Rotary position sensors are used for applications that require electromechanical feedback of a position change, direction change, or rotation speed. Most applications that require position feedback use a rotary position sensor to convert a change in angular mechanical position into an electrical signal, or a linear position sensor to convert a change in distance into an electrical signal. The general goal is to detect the change or movement and provide feedback to the system controls to determine the next action.
